Why it happens
Twitter displays summary_large_image cards at a 2:1 aspect ratio (1200 x 600px). Images that don’t match get center-cropped to fit, cutting off content near the edges.
What different ratios look like
- Square (1:1): top and bottom cropped off, leaving a horizontal center strip
- Portrait: heavy cropping on top and bottom, usually cuts off text
- Wide but not 2:1: slight top/bottom crop, often acceptable
- Text at edges: partially cropped, unreadable
Fixing it
Design your OG images at 1200 x 600px (exactly 2:1):
- Keep important content in the center 80% of the image
- Leave at least 50px padding on all sides
- Test with a 2:1 crop guide before publishing

Summary card images
summary cards crop to a 1:1 square at 144 x 144px minimum. Same center-crop behavior, so square source images work best here.
