How bio link previews work
When a user taps a link-in-bio URL, TikTok may show a preview card (image, title, domain) before navigating. This uses the same OG tag extraction as in-app link previews via TikTokSpider.
Why your bio link may not preview
- Link shortener or redirect service – Linktree, Beacons, bit.ly, etc. TikTok previews the intermediary URL, not the final destination. The intermediary needs its own OG tags.
- Missing OG tags – TikTokSpider can’t find
og:titleandog:imagein the HTML. - TikTokSpider blocked – robots.txt or firewall preventing the crawl.
- Caching – TikTok cached a version of the page before you added OG tags.
The fix
- If you use a link-in-bio service, check that its page has OG tags (most do).
- If possible, link directly to your page instead of through a redirect.
- Verify
og:title,og:description, andog:imageare in the server-rendered HTML. - Test the exact URL in your bio:
curl -A "TikTokSpider" https://your-bio-link.com | grep -i "og:"Link-in-bio services
Linktree, Beacons, and similar platforms set OG tags automatically. If the preview looks wrong, check the link-in-bio service’s dashboard, not your destination page’s tags.
