Recommended image dimensions

1200 x 630 pixels (1.91:1 ratio). Notion has two card layouts: landscape images appear as a thumbnail on the right side; wider/larger images span the full card width above the text. The standard OG image size works well for both.

Display behavior

Notion scales and crops to fit the card layout, which adapts to page width (full-width vs. standard). Images appear at different sizes depending on layout. Keep important content centered.

Supported formats

JPEG, PNG, GIF, and WebP. Animated GIFs show as a static first frame.

Image URL requirements

The og:image URL must be:

• An absolute URL (not relative)
• Accessible without authentication
• Served over HTTPS (HTTP may fail)
• Not behind redirects that require cookies or JavaScript

When no image is provided

Notion renders a text-only bookmark with title, description, favicon, and domain. Functional, but less visually prominent.
