Mobile-first display

Threads is primarily mobile, so link preview images render as compact cards optimized for phone screens: full-width with rounded corners above the title. Keep key content centered and avoid small text that won’t be legible on a phone.

Size thresholds

Same as Facebook:

• 1200 x 630px or larger: full-width image preview
• 600 x 315px to 1199 x 629px: large preview, may lose sharpness
• Below 600 x 315px: smaller, less prominent
• Below 200 x 200px: image ignored entirely

File size and formats

• Max file size: 8 MB
• Supported: JPEG, PNG, WebP, GIF (static frame only)

Meta re-encodes and caches all images on its CDN.

Dimension hints

Including og:image:width and og:image:height prevents a blank image slot on first share:
