Why LINE shows stale data
LINE caches preview data after Linespider fetches the page. Re-sharing the same URL may serve the cached version. The cache duration isn’t documented but can be long.
Using the official cache-clearing tool
LINE provides a cache-deletion tool through the LINE Developers site – the equivalent of Facebook’s “Scrape Again” button:
- Visit the cache-clearing tool
- Enter the stale URL
- Submit the invalidation request
- Share the URL in a new LINE message
Alternative approaches
If you can’t access the tool:
- Append
?v=2to the URL – LINE treats it as new and fetches fresh data - Wait for natural expiry – timing is unpredictable
- Change the URL path if possible
Existing messages don’t update
Previews in already-sent messages are permanent. Cache clearing only affects new shares.
Prevention
- Finalize OG tags before sharing links in LINE chats
- Use our preview tool to verify tags before sharing
- Bookmark the cache-clearing tool
